Vue Regional Planning Authority (VRPA) Meeting 3 - 6-July-2007 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Attendees: ---------- Aghlab Al-Attili (Edinburgh Stanford Link & Entrepreneurship MSc) Ian Graham (Management School) Fiona Littleton (E-Learning, Higher & Community Education) Naomi Nunn (Alumni & Development) David Richardson (Informatics) Austin Tate (Informatics & AIAI) This meeting was called at short notice to get those involved in Second Life island ownership or who were planning to order islands in the immediate future. It discussed island placement using the previous VRPA plan which is at: http://vue.ed.ac.uk/sl/plan/vue-2007-06-07-region-plan.jpg It was agreed that a tighter configuration of the core islands, with expansion prospects in various directions offered a better configuration. The aim being to have core areas developed and likely to be active. Accordingly a new plan was adopted: http://vue.ed.ac.uk/sl/plan/vue-2007-07-06-region-plan.jpg This will involve renaming "Vue East" to be "Edinburgh University", which Naomi Nunn agreed could be done within the current 50:50 Development & Alumni and Informatics support to Vue. This island would have a zone of development for Development & Alumni starting at the SW corner of what is now "Vue East" and spreading in a wedge to the NE corner of that island. The central units and offices in the University who wish to have facilities on Vue will spread around the bay area between Vue and what is now Vue east. Informatics will have an entry point in the SW corner of the island leading from The venue to their own island to the South. The SE corner is currently unallocated. Next Steps ---------- Austin Tate will ask for "Vue East" to be renamed as "Edinburgh University" at a cost of US$50 to be paid for 50:50 by Development & Alumni and Informatics. Fiona Littleton and Austin Tate will arrange for Linden Labs to give permission to new island owners for placement of islands in the restricted zones around Vue. Austin Tate will place an order for four open space islands as detailed on the plan. the cost is the same as one full island. An initial 12 months maintenance will be paid for, and the costs for a further 2 years beyond that are already committed. These are to be paid for 50:50 by Development & Alumni and by Informatics as a shared University facility to be added to the current Vue shared space. Naomi Nunn, David Richardson and Ian Graham will place orders for "Edinburgh Uplands" (name to be decided), "Informatics" and "Vue NW" when they wish. Date of Next Meeting -------------------- To be arranged by e-mail.
